Spiritual and humbling

Standing in front of the ancient rice terraces at Biliran maintained for thousands of years was genuinely moving. These are living cultural monuments and watching farmers tend them the same way their ancestors did was a privilege. Our guide explained the history with clear passion.

A living cultural treasure

Visiting Biliran is like stepping back in time in the very best sense. The indigenous culture, the traditional architecture, the community spirit — all precious. Our guide, himself from an indigenous family, brought the cultural context to life in a way no book could.

Worth the journey to get here

Getting to Biliran requires some effort but every kilometer of travel is justified by what you find at the end. The scenery from the bus windows alone is extraordinary. The destination delivers on every promise and then some. This is what genuine off-the-beaten-path travel feels like.

Challenging but completely rewarding

Not the easiest trek for those new to hiking at Biliran, but the guide offered steady encouragement throughout. The sense of shared accomplishment in the group at the summit was genuinely uplifting. Bring proper footwear and extra water. Worth it completely.
