Great for solo travelers too
Traveled alone to Basilan and was matched with a really lovely group from different countries. The guide was great at facilitating conversation and making everyone feel included. Made two new travel friends I'm still in contact with months later.
Beautiful but got a bit crowded at noon
The Basilan destination is absolutely stunning — no question about that. My only feedback is that it was peak season so the main beach got crowded during lunch hour. Our guide suggested we tackle the busy spots early and save the quiet ones for noon — brilliant call. Overall still a great experience.
Beautiful, and yes, it's hot
Be ready for the tropical heat in Basilan but trust me it's completely worth it. The water is so refreshing once you're in. The coral reefs were in excellent condition — we spotted clownfish, parrotfish, and even a small reef shark in the distance. Incredible biodiversity.
The colors are that vivid in real life
I'd seen hundreds of photos of Basilan online and thought they were heavily edited. They weren't. The water really is that shade of blue-green. The sand really is that white. Absolutely breathtaking and worth every bit of effort to get here.
