Serene and restorative
The peace and quiet at Batanes is truly therapeutic. Waking up to misty mornings and birdsong was such a contrast to city life. We went slowly, lingered at every viewpoint, and left feeling genuinely restored. Exactly what a proper holiday should feel like.
Awe-inspiring at every turn
Every bend in the road around Batanes revealed another stunning panorama. Our driver-guide was knowledgeable about local history and folklore, keeping the mood light and engaging throughout. We learned so much beyond what any guidebook would tell you.
A living cultural treasure
Visiting Batanes is like stepping back in time in the very best sense. The indigenous culture, the traditional architecture, the community spirit — all precious. Our guide, himself from an indigenous family, brought the cultural context to life in a way no book could.
Echo Valley was hauntingly beautiful
The hanging coffins and the view across Batanes's Echo Valley were unlike anything I've seen. The shouting tradition was surprisingly moving — the sound coming back has a quality that's hard to describe. The cave exploration was thrilling.
